I am so happy to be doing this blog collaboration with Erin Aschow of Revenge Bakery. We are teaming up to bring you fun, fit, and healthy material.
But first, introductions!
I connected with Erin because we both share a love of being in the kitchen, staying fit, and our fellahs are both touring musicians. Did we just become best friends?
She loves creating delicious recipes that are easy enough for the lazy girls or amateur chefs of the world. When it comes to being healthy or indulging, sometimes we just want something easy and quick. Besides being a whiz in the kitchen, she's a makeup hoarder (like me) and an effortlessly stylish chick-a-dee.
I asked Erin a few questions, so you can get to know her better.
I started baking as a little kid with my grandma. She used to watch me during the holidays and on vacations, so she would set up an assembly line and have me help her bake mass amounts of cookies, pie, snack mixes and other treats. When I was working in the music industry, a lot of my clients/touring friends caught on to my love of baking and started putting in requests when they would come through town. After a while, I started getting requests to ship them across the country. In the meantime, I thought it would be great to start sharing super easy recipes that actually tasted good. I thought it would be cool to share desserts, snacks and meals that someone could make in a dorm room using their microwave or whip together using ingredients they found in their fridge. The rest is history!
With all the treat eating, how do you stay in such great shape?
I exercise 4-5 days a week. I'm not one of those naturally athletic people who just loves waking up and running 10 miles. It takes a lot of dedication (and bribery) to stay on track. I normally do Orange Theory 3 days a week and mix it up on the other days: jogging in my neighborhood, riding my bike, doing Kayla Itsines/Body Rock/Tone It Up Workouts.
What is your favorite healthy snack that you like to whip up?
I loooove Avo Toast with a Sunny SIde Up egg. I also cut vegetables up every week and make Mason Jar snack mixes. It's a really easy snack to grab while I'm working or driving. What is your favorite indulgence?
Mexican Food! You thought I was gonna say something chocolate right!? I wish I could just live off of tacos, nachos & burritos all day!
How did you come up with the name Revenge Bakery?
It was a joke at first! I had cookies that I called "Death by Chocolate Ganache" that were really popular and was inspired by the quote "Revenge never tasted so sweet"
What are your hobbies outside of the blog?
When I'm not baking cookies, I'm usually hanging out with my boyfriend, watching movies, exploring San Diego, going to Disneyland or doing something crafty!
If you could have dinner with anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?
Hmm that's tough. As cliche as it sounds, I would love to have dinner with Oprah. You know, being super glamorous, talking about her empire, telling me about all of her favorite things. I always joke with friends when making decisions and say "What would Oprah do?". I just love how badass she is, running the world and still being super down to earth.
Three words to describe yourself?
Hmm tough one again... Sarcastic, Committed & Unconventional
If you could watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Can I pick a Trilogy!? If I can't pick the Original Star Wars Trilogy, I'll go with The Princess Bride
